FAQ

What are the opening hours? When is the best time to take or bring food?

  • The opening hours depend on the location of each fridge. Check the Where page

Where does the food come from?

  • Some of it comes from our partners, supermarkets, restaurants, cafes, and others who choose to give away food to us instead of wasting it. Another part comes from households, for example, donations from individuals who also choose to share instead of throwing the food away.

Who can take and bring the food to the fridge?

  • Anyone, as long as the guidelines for the use of the fridge are taken into account. Solikyl doesn’t practice positive or negative discrimination

Do you have to give the food if you want to take some?

  • No, it is not a requirement. Most important is to use of the food that would otherwise be discarded.

How is the food delivered from our partners to the fridge?

  • It is delivered by our skilled foodsavers that can sort and assess if the goods are suitable for eating when they are brought to the refrigerator. Usually it is in walking or cycling distance and the food is transported in a coolbox, so that the cold chain is not broken.

What if the food in the refrigerator gets old?

  • The refrigerator is cleaned at least once a week. Those responsible are checking everything that’s in there. Although we try to keep it as clean as possible, it is still up to each and every one to take responsibility when leaving or picking food from the fridge. Read the guidelines for use of the fridge, which are also hanging by each refrigerator.
